Veikkaus Sets €1500 Loss Cap and Requires ID for Betting
Veikkaus Sets €1500 Loss Cap and needs identification before betting
The Finnish operator adds a new €1500 daily wager limit for final match results and an ID requirement for retail gambling. The new rules are set in motion on June 10th.
The new rules align with Veikkaus’ responsible gaming initiatives.
Responsible gaming has seen a huge push in the last couple of years, and its presence hasn’t diminished even during the pandemic. Veikkaus is the latest gaming operator to announce new plans for 2021 in the way of preventing players from harming themselves.
By placing a €1500 cap for daily purchases, players are forcibly limited in what they can gamble and the amount of time they can spend in the establishment. The ID requirements help prevent fraud, as well as identifying problem gamers.
This is an expansion of these measures, as they were already in place for slot machines. Now, they are implemented at kiosks, restaurants, service stations, and Veikkaus gaming venues.
All players need to register as Veikkaus Loyal Customer.
The loyalty card acts as a registered form of ID for the player. They can easily sign up with a driver’s license or Veikkaus card. By forcing players to receive this new customer card, Veikkaus expects to keep underage gambling in check.
A major benefit for the player, however, is the ability to keep track of their betting history through this new customer card.
All of these security measures will prevent money laundering, match-fixing, and other forms of gaming abuse. Juha-Matti Mäkilä, the Betting Director for Veikkaus, is quoted saying, “match-fixing and related betting abuse have already become smaller [in Finland] than in our neighboring countries.”
